This Week’s Eats: Week of August 26th 2013

School starts Thursday. Why they don’t just start school after Labor Day is beyond me. It’s like they are determined to ruin summer. But I digress…

Here’s my plan for meals starting Wednesday:

Wednesday, August 28th (no school)

Thursday, August 29th (first day of school for the 2 oldest)

Friday, August 30th (all 3 kids at school)

Saturday, August 31st

  • Breakfast: Gluten-free cereal and milk (almond or coconut) topped with sliced bananas
  • Morning Snack: Apples dipped in almond butter
  • Lunch: Vegetable soup can
  • Afternoon Snack: Banana Chips
  • Supper (hubby takes over tonight): BBQ (or whatever else he plans!)
  • Dessert: Homemade Coconut Almond Joy Candy Bars

Sunday, September 1st

* = Make enough for next day’s school lunches

Thanks for the ideas! Naïma brought her lunch to school today and she has a lunchbox full of tiny containers. She has small portions of crackers, cheese, turkey pepperoni, apple slices, box of raisins, fruit snack, granola bar and juice box. She has plenty to keep her tummy full for the whole day.

They are used to snacking all day long, so I was a bit worried that she wouldn’t have enough snacks!!!

Thankfully, the kids don’t have any food intolerance, which makes it easy to feed them!!!

You’re so lucky to have kids with no food allergies or sensitivities! I love your snack-for-lunch approach, since that’s what your kids are used to.
It’ll be interesting to see how my youngest, just starting kindergarten, adjusts to fixed eating times since she’s my constant snacker…
